Our tips for a good sleep

Adequate quality sleep is essential for good health. It also positively affects your mood and your moral well-being. Getting enough sleep will also help you concentrate more at work. So what do you need to do to get quality sleep?

Arrange your room well for optimal sleep

For your room to be conducive to sleep, it must be properly furnished. First of all, avoid making it a multi-activity room. If possible, don’t put your desk in it. Your room should be a place dedicated to relaxation and, of course, cuddling.

Then, your mattress must be comfortable to get a good night’s sleep. If yours makes you jump at the slightest movement of your companion, you should consider changing it. Next, your room should be at the right temperature. If it feels too hot or too cold, you’ll have trouble sleeping. Ideally, the temperature should be 19°C.

Finally, to get a good night’s sleep, put your room in complete darkness. So turn off the TV, smartphone, etc.

Pay attention to your diet

What you eat also affects the quality of your sleep. First, avoid going to bed hungry. But you should also avoid eating a large meal. Spicy dishes and red meats are to be avoided. A light snack is recommended. For example, you can eat pasta, fish, dairy products, vegetables or white bread.

Eat 2 or 3 hours before going to bed. Also avoid drinking a lot of water before going to sleep. This way you will not be woken up by the urge to urinate.

Also avoid caffeine as you approach bedtime. Various drinks such as coffee, tea and energy drinks contain caffeine. It is also found in chocolate.

Adopt good habits

To prepare for sleep, take a nice warm bath in the evening. The water should not be too hot. A maximum temperature of 37°C is ideal. This will soothe you. Forget all your worries and put aside your “to do list”. They keep you awake at night. Also avoid marital disputes. On the contrary, cuddle up. Cuddling helps release the love hormone. It reduces stress and helps you fall asleep.

Finally, be aware that essential oils can also help you get a good night’s sleep. Lavender, for example, is a natural sedative. In addition to its pleasant smell, it has calming properties.
